Your Time To Shine - Autism Awareness

It’s April, Autism Awareness Month and I want to this year give awareness about how damn hard it is creating and keeping friendships when you have Autism or any seen/unseen disability and/or mental health condition, by doing exactly that, or at least do what I can to try and do that.

Everywhere people just seem to be constantly hurting over whatever issues they have, and so many times it just feels no body even has any idea how to solve their issues, let alone even want to sometimes.

We always seem to constantly get mad and upset from people never seemingly being interested in us, making us feel like the interest and care only goes the one way.

It’s always so easy to just point your finger and blame other people for things we struggle at everyday. It’s easy to forget that we are not the only ones suffering or that we are just so tied down in busy life schedules with all the stress it brings. Friendships, the love and attention you wish you could give sometimes, it just isn’t something you can always do.

No matter how much you try to raise awareness, so many people still are never going to understand why can’t you just go out and create a friendship with a click of your fingers.
Spoiler alert, I cannot click my fingers, so don’t tell me it’s that simple! But at the same time, don’t think I cannot create friends. I can, but it is hard and as much as I may be friendly and love meeting new people, I still have autism no more less than before!

I will create friends, but just like anyone with any type of condition affecting their socialising, it is a daily struggle that only acceptance, understanding, embracing and love can help overcome. It will not solve the struggle, the struggle will always be there, just as my autism will always be there.

But with people who know how it feels to struggle with friendships, how it feels to be not understood, and be treated differently because of your differences and struggles. With you, we can all overcome everything standing in our way and we can embrace what makes us truly us.
